Preserving Xcode 6

Hello,

Xcode 7.0 beta 6 can run apps on a device with iOS 9.0 GM?

Alternatively, is it possible to install Xcode 7.0 GM preserving Xcode 6.4 (drag and drop into a different directory)?

Thanks!

Hey,

for your 2nd question, even if you drag and drop it in the /Applications folder, it will ask if you want to replace Xcode 6.4 with Xcode 7 GM, or if you want to keep both (by renaming Xcode 7 to "Xcode 2.app").

Hi Spirales,

  1. Yes, the previous Xcode 7.0 beta will still work with devices running iOS 9 GM, but why wouldn't you wnat to update to Xcode 7.0 GM seed?
  2. If you have El Capitan installed then Apple have remarked in a number of places that running Xcode 6 is not recommended. But if you want to do it, it doesn't matter which folder you have which version of Xcode in. In my experience, the best way to prevent issues that will arise from running two versions of Xcode side by side is to create another user account and segregate your use of them.

Max.
