App developer requires my apple ID username/password (with DDID) before sending demo app? is this standard practice?

Hello there,

I don't know why he needs it. Can someone please clarify? In the past I've sent DDID to developers and they send me the demo app for my device.

I have iCloud, my personal information, etc... on my apple ID, and i wasn't comfortable sharing it with a stranger online that I've never met.

Can someone clarify this for me? and whether this is a good idea?

Many thanks!

PA

Sounds like you don't have a trusting relationship to fall back on, so no...be afraid.

I don't think an Apple ID's password is needed for a demo app, so be careful pls.

For a TestFlight build all a developer needs is an email adress that you can access from your device. You can then link that with your Apple ID yourself, as a response of an invite from Apple. After that you are able to download the App from the TestFlight app.

I agree your partner need your appid to use Testflight service. If so, he will only need your appid without your password. Good luck.
