Can't sign into iTunes

I have had this problem in previous versions of the iOS 9 beta on my iPad Air, and I just experienced it with the GM on my iPhone 6. My iTunes password isn't working. I tried to download an app from the App Store, copied and pasted my password from 1Password, and it was rejected. I tried this from the Settings app as well. I also manually entered it in, and it was rejected. I know the password is correct because I just used it to sign into the forums. I had this issue on my Mac on a previous beta of El Cap.


I signed out of the account in Settings, and signed back in. That worked. Then, I tried to download an app from the App Store again. It was rejected.


Has anyone experienced this? I can't do anything regarding iTunes on my phone, which is obviously a huge problem.

Are you certain you don't have Two Factor Authentication enabled?

Positive. For some reason, my Apple ID had been disabled for security reasons, but it wasn't telling me that. I only saw that information when I completely logged out of iTunes, and then logged back in to my account through the App Store app. (The Settings app didn't give me any information). So it's fixed now, but that seems like a really bad workflow.


Edit: Nope. Now it's happening again. Arg!

Good to know that's a potential cause of passwords being inexplicably rejected. Good luck getting it sorted.

My account is getting locked every time I log into iTunes/App Store on my phone. This is a problem...

I suggest filing a bug report since it's hard to see why that would be expected behaviour.


It might also be worth getting in touch with the Developer Account Support team because they should be able to reset your AppleID such that it can't be triggered into being locked so easily. Phone numbers for different countires are here:
