what type of license do i need?

i currently have an app in development and i'm nearing the stage of needing to apply for the apple license. will i need to have an LLC or any business entity to start the license process? it's a fitness app and i thought i needed one to protect myself in case i get sued if someone hurts themselves. if not, will a sole proprietor do? thanks very much

To put an app in the store requires an Individual Developer Account. When applying for that, you can elect to optionally register as a company/LLC. I think the 'protection' slant you bring up is outside the account process, and again, your choice. Legal questions should be put to your lawyer, etc.

Being a company/LLC in the store is how you would be able to have a company name shown next to your apps vs. the person name used to register your account, if that matters. It also allows you to work with a 'team' on a single account. See the iTunes Connect FAQs on roles, etc.

I assume you've seen this link: https://developer.apple.com/programs/ & https://developer.apple.com/programs/enroll/

If you want to protect yourself from legal liablity from a user injury claim, consulting a lawyer seems prudent.
