Is the LAST golden master release extactly bit for bit the same release as the final version?

Hi

i am new in the forum.

Some more questions to this topic:

Is the LAST golden master release extactly bit for bit the same release as the final version?

Is this also valid for iOS?

I am a member of the apple public beta program for iOS (9.1) and OS X (el capitan) and i do NOT want to MUST make an clean install for the final release.

This means: Do i have the same release after installing the LAST public beta on iOS AND OS X?

And if i stay in publlic beta and do not want do download the betas, but only the golden master(s), is this possible?

Can i change from public beta to final WITHOUT reinstalling iOS and / or OS X?

For example, there was an Bug in watch os 2 gm. will there be an second gm which is identical to the final release?

iOS GM differed from the public release and Yosemite had a GM 2 before public release. Changes are, it's gonna be different.

Hi,

Based on reports by other users of this forum, there are still some significant bugs occuring under certain circumstances for the current GM Candidate of El Capitan. Interestingly, many of these seem fixed in the 10.11.1 seed, which suggests to me that there will be a GM2 in the next few days, just as there was with Yosemite (as already noted by Steve).

It is less common for the GM of an iOS upgrade to be different from the final release, but as also noted, iOS 9 GM was build 13A340 and the final release was 13A344.

In short, if you have to do a fresh install for last version of OS X or iOS then you should wait for the final release before fresh install.

Yes, you can stay in the Public Beta program and only update to GMs with both iOS and also OS X - you just have to be careful not to accept an update to any beta. This is especially important with iOS.

No, there will not be another watchOS 2 GM, just the final release "coming soon" - Apple have announced this but have not given a date.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your answers!

One more question:

It is NOT possible to update to an final release from the beta program WITHOUT reinstalling iOS or OS X, is that true?

To update to the final version of OS X, yes you must do a full installation, not an update, but that does not mean that you lose your user environment - your user account and all your docs, files, apps etc. remain in place.

To update to the final version of iOS, no you only need to update OTA as normal - Apple reassures it's Public Beta Testers of this in the FAQ so, again, the user environment on the iDevice is untouched.
