Fan always running since El Capitan GM install. MBPr 15"

Machine - MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)

My fans runs nonstop since installing El Capitan. I did a clean install after experiencing it hoping it would stop but it didnt.

Activity Monitor shows as follows:

and

So no reason why it is getting hot and the fan running continuously.

Yes I have reset PRAM and SMC.

Any suggestions?

Hi Matt,

The forum software makes it seem like you can post pictures here, but actually you can't - just one of those things. Suffice it to tell us if there are any apps burning significant CPU (I'm guessing not).

Also, please post exactly which version of El Capitan you are on as this was an issue earlier in the betas for some and an update fixed it.

Max.

I am using GM Build 15A282b

Activity Monitor is showing less than 3% user CPU activity. Energy 0.0 Impact. The interesting part is the Disk activity. It shows reads in 258,000 amd Writes out 224,750. I was concerned at first with MalWare or something relaying but I turned off wifi to see if there was any difference and no change in in or out.

Systemstatd is showing a whopping 1.58gb written and 6.48gb read. Not sure what this is or if it has any releation to issue.

I think your best bet here is to boot into Recovery Mode (hold cmd+R from power on until you see the progress bar) and select "Reinstall OS X" from the central menu. This will reinstall the GM over itself without touching your user account or any of your user data, apps etc. and is the most likely thing to fix the issue.

Same problem here on Late 2013 Macbook 13 Retina. Even though I'm not doing any demanding tasks the fan starts spinning after 10mins or so

Same issue here on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011)

No apps running, fan has not stopped.

I have the following: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3. Just updated to El Capitan after release and the fans are running almost non-stop. Any thoughts?

Have you got Spotify installed by chance? I had the same problem right after installing "El Capitan" and looking at the "Activity Monitor" I found out the guilty process was "Spotify Helper".

P.S.

I am running the final version of "El Capitan"
