Mail not working with iCloud

Hi

I am currently using 10.11.1 Beta (15B22c) and MAIL won't get iCloud mail.


It appears it is trying to get the mail from the wrong server


Incoming Mail Server is currently set to p99-imap.mail.me.com


Whenever I go to change the incoming mail server it won't let me save the change.


Any ideas?


Can I "delete" teh mail.app and reinstall it?

You shouldn't delete the Mail app, but you "rebuild" the Mail app by moving it's resource files (this has nothing to do with rebuilding a mailbox) and this will cause OS X to re-make it (this won't affect your email or mailboxes etc. - just the Mail app itself). To do that, quit Mail and move the following folder to the desktop (you can press shift+cmd+G from Finder and copy-paste it in - the selected folder is the one you need to move):

• ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail


Restart your Mac. Open Mail again and let me know how it goes.

Or, if you haven't tried it already, you recreate your iCloud Mail account manually to see if that fixes the problem.


  1. Go to iCloud Setting and Disable the Mail and Notes.
  2. Now go to Settings and select the service Mail, Contacts and Calenders.
  3. Select the Add Account and choose Other now select Add Mail Account.
  4. Now enter your iCloud mail account in IMAP tab.
  5. Setup the Incoming Mail Server as

    Host Name: p04-imap.mail.me.com

  6. Setup the Outgoing Mail Server as

    Host Name: smtp.me.com

I also moved the mailserviceagent folder - do I delete both of these once Mail has restarted?

Yes, you can delete them from the desktop if you like. Try the suggestion below...

Thanks for the solution - I had the very same problem and your workaround helped me, too, but now I have a new mail account in the mail.app and the new one is not configured as iCloud. I am worried that I get sync problems with calendar, notes, etc. Do I have to delete the iCloud account or both the iCloud and new me.com account and set up everything new?
