renew APNS certificate without original CSR file

Hi Experts,

We have Mobile Device Management, which uses APNS certificate, we have APNS certificate expired recently, and we want to renew the same APNS certificate from the web site: https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/

But the problem is we dont have the original CSR file which we used while creation of APNS certificate.

we can not afford to generate the new APNS certificate, since, it will affect all the MDM device users.

Please help us in this issue so that i can renew the same APNS certificate.

What MDM product are you using? MobileIron, for example, generates the CSR for you, so there's no worry about losing it. Your other option is to create a new Apple ID, and call Apple Developer Program Support requesting they migrate your APNS cert to that. You'll need to prove you're the owner of both ID's.

Also, you don't have to use the same CSR (in fact, I don't think you can as the original one will have expired).

The only step that has to be the same is to use the same Apple ID at https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/ that your current APNS was made with.

Then hit the newnew button next to it and present the MDM signed CSR (Apple does not accept a normal CSR, it has to have been 'blessed' by an MDM vendor).

This is nice especially when you migrate from one MDM company to another. Apple only cares that they recieve a valid file that an authorized MDM vendor has signed.

I personally like to use the email address of the apple ID in my CSR, so that I can look at it and go "oh that was the Apple ID I used"
