My in-app purchases are not working

Hi to everyone, I'm new and not a developer, ( not a tech guy ) I paid a developer in full to build my app, which is an add on keyboard, for IOS Android and a website. After 11 mounths we have the IOS app on the App Store, Apparently everything was working fine, in the sandbox testing environment, Apple approved the app after 9 attempts and now live on the App Store.

problem is the free version is working fine, but when a user tries to upgrade through the in-app purchases, payment goes through as it should, however the user doesn't get the upgrade on the device, running IOS 9.1.0 now but the problem was there with the older version too.

purchases are showing up on Apple iTunes acount, so I know that part is working. Even when you click back into upgrade the level it is ticked as paid for, yet the product didn't download onto the device. If I tried to purchase it again, popup comes up. saying,

( THIS IN-APP PURCHASE HAS ALREADY BEEN BOUGHT, IT WILL BE RESTORED FOR FREE ). OK.

Then press Restore, and the little black loading circle pops up for a split second and disappears, and still the purchased level is not loaded.

I'm getting a lot of angry users/customers demanding refunds,

My developer will not even request a TECHNICAL SUPPORT INCIDENT as I still have two available. I tried it myself but don't have the answers to there questions as I'm not a tech guy. I don't know what to do, very frustrated.

ARE OTHERS HAVE SIMULAR PROBLEMS WITH THE IOS 9?

BUt I have no trouble buying other apps, in-app purchases, just mine.

am I being scammed?

any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks for listening and your time.

You wrote:

There can be problems with the App Store for short periods of time. What you describe above is an app working as expected with one exception - it does not credit the app with IAPs pruchsed by the app. This is usually a coding problem (for example the way the app inspects the purchase to be certain it is a valid purchase or how it installs any downloaded files). If it were just with iOS9.1.0 then it is most likely using certain older methods that have now been disabled and need to be updated to the newer methods. However you also wrote "the problem was there with the older version too" so it is unclear what the issue is. You need to interact with the original developer and get this problem fixed; or find a new developer.

How many reports of this issue have you received? Is there any chance it goes away when the user logs out of the app store, then back in?

I think in the end, you are forced to find a way to work this out w/that dev, or at least find a way to obtain the source code so you can attempt to have someone else help. In any case, and assuming you have control over the app in iTunes Connect, you may want to take that app off sale in all countries until the issue can be dealt with.

THanks PBK, for your feedback, yes we are working with the developer as he is still contracted to build the Android version of the app and 6 mounths of support, for the app's. Problem is he keeps us in the dark and ignores any of our correspondence. I'd understand if it was a one man show and only doing it part time, but this is a big company with over 300 apps built. I will not name and shame the company as we are giving them an opportunity to redeem themselves.

we don't know how many users are getting a fully functioning app and how many are having the problem, i personally can't even get my app working on my devices.

thanks for your feedback mate.

If this happens every time, and the application never enables content unlocked by the In App Purchase, then the developer never completed the initial delivery to you.

If your customers are being charged, and never received what they paid for, that is a big problem and you should remove the app or In App Purchase from sale until it is resolved.

You need the original developer to finish the job, or you need to obtain the full source code and find another developer who can.

If the problem does not happen every time, then you you need a competent developer who you trust and can communicate with to troubleshoot what is happening. Actually, you need that anyway, and should escalate this issue within the organization you mentioned until the issue is resolved. Based on what you describe, you are not getting what you paid for.

Hi Floating Wrench and thanks for your reply. I Don't know if any of the in-app purchases are working correctly, is there a way for me to see the numbers of installs and fails? In developer program or iTunes conect.

apart from the one older IPad I got the app to load onto, I don't know of any other seccessful installations of in-app purchases, all my friends and family members, have tried to purchase and not one worked.

i Requested a TSI from Apple and emailed the information Apples tech team provided on to my developer, but still no feedback from my developers.

How can I find a compatent developer? Is there a website that reviews developers and rates them on the web?

And is there a site were bad developers are named and shamed, if it goes that far?

I am suspecting ( A ) the developer lacks the knowledge to compleat the project.

Or ( B ) deliberately delaying and or sabotaging the App, for some reason.

A Lesson for everyone wanting to build an app, do your reaserch on app developers, DONT trust everything you read on there websites and look into there

App PORTFOLIOS, to see how they are doing or if they even exist. Can you find there apps on the app stores? How many apps they have successfully compleated and how many are IN PROGRESS, and will never be compleated or dont even exist.

i Only have myself to blame for trusting, and rushing into getting the app idea started.

I Know most developers are compatent and trustworthy, however there are some bad apples around too.

Thank you all for your feedback and advice, I hope to be able to work this out with my current developer as I have paid up in full, but after 11 mounths for IOS APP, and Android App. I don't even have one compleated App. Fingers crossed I don't need to get lawyers involved. If I do, I will name and shame to worn others to stay away, and not get ripped off.

thanks again to all of you for your feedback.
