App Rejection:Advertising Identifier

Dear All,

My app uses FaceBookSDK to track FBSDKAppEvents as well as for conversion tracking, we are not showing any ads. This has been there for past 2.5 years and I have submitted multiple versions of the app which Apple has approved. This week we had a critical release to the Appstore (nothing changed regarding FaceBookSDK), and we get a rejection from Apple regarding usage of AsIdentifier (Only place we use this is in FaceBookSDK) , which came as surprise, how come Apple didn’t do it the first time and approved our app in this whole 2,5yrs :), I know it is a topic of debate, but keeping those things apart.

I would like to know now how I can get my app approved, shall I write to Apple saying that FBSDKAppEvents require AdSupport framework and AsIdentifier or should I discuss with my business and suggest them to remove FaceBookSDK and resubmit the app? Not sure what exactly would be the next step.

Thanks in advance,

-john

From the documentation, which I'm pretty sure has always said this:

The ASIdentifierManager class provides apps with access to an identifier that can be used only for serving advertisements, as well as a flag which indicates whether a user has limited ad tracking.

Your application is in violation of the guidelines. It wasn't detected before, now it has been. Your feasible choice is going to be to make changes to your application to bring it into compliance with the guidelines.

I understand. This was a legacy code which we received from another vendor and we havent touched those areas of code....but anyways I will

1. Remove all the usages of AsIdentifier.

2. Remove Adsupport framework.

Will these two suffice for the compliance. If yes, after doing this, Can I safely say that my App doesnt use Advertising Identifier in the questionnaire asked while submitting the App for review??

Thanks,

John
