I was able to download iOS 9, but while I was installing it on my iPhone 6, i got an error that said something like "Unknown error (6)".
Any idea what's causing this? Do i need to have El Capitan on my mac to be able to install iOS 9 through iTunes?

I got the same error when attempting to install iOS 9 beta 2 on a 16GB iPhone 4S. It was running iOS 6 previously, because it didn't have enough space to upgrade to iOS 8. Maybe it helps to do a factory reset to get more available space first?
I have previously succeeded installing beta 1 on an iPod 5th gen from the same computer, so it's likely something to do with the device.
Sorry I don't have an answer, will post an update if I succeed.
I managed to install iOS 9 beta 2 now. Previously I option-clicked "Update" in iTunes, but I now option-clicked "Restore" instead and chose the beta 2 ipsw, since the device didn't contain any data I didn't have elsewhere. I'm guessing it's related to low space, but I'm not sure.
