The forums made me change my iCloud password and now I cannot sign into my MacBook Pro. I try to sign in and the machine tells me "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with "<myicloudaccount>". Open icloud preferences to fix this problem." with Later or iCloud Preferences buttons. I hit either button, get the beach ball and never get to my desktop. I tried in Safe Mode as well. Any ideas on bypassing the icloud login?
Can't sign in to my MacBook Pro at all after changing icloud password
I had a similar issue - in my case system preferences would hang on trying to access iCloud from its own pref pane or through the accounts pref pane. I solved it by deleting all files from the following folder:
/Users/<MY HOME FOLDER>/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts
I was then able to get into the iCloud preference pane, where it asked me for my new password. After giving it, all was working again.
It sounds like you'll have to delete the files while running OS X from another partition.
Excellent, thanks for this. I'll add that I had gotten around my login to the desktop issue by resetting my account password from an alternate admin account and disabling wifi. This let me get to the desktop but not the iCloud preferences. After deleting these files I needed to reboot to get the preferences pane to work again.
Thanks for your help.
Rebooting is needed after deleting the files. Good find btw.
Worked great
I have this same exact problem but I don't have another Admin account to login to. I only have my frozen admin account and a safari-only guest account. Am I doomed? It seems that I can't bypass the login point of it trying to change connect to the iCloud. It just freezes the progress bar and does the spinning wheel of death.
Never mind! I just unplugged my wireless so it wouldn't try to sign in on iCloud. Thanks for posting these! I would have never figured it out
