Released App 2 days ago, iAd has not reviewed is this due to iAd Closing down?

Hello, so recently(2 days ago) released an app with iAd ads incorperated with the game, I've heard it ussually takes 24 hours for iAd to review you app and send requests, but also last month Apple announced that the iAd network will be closing and they will not be taking anyother apps(I think, but it was stated here https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=01152016a) does this mean that the iAd team will not be reviewing my app for iAds, wil I have to switch to a different advertising platform?

Accepted Answer

that was my experience with 2 apps I released last month. Ads never showed. Ended up switching to ad mob.

Doing that right now, so much easier to intergate too......

Apple is really botching this whole process. If they're not going to serve iAds to new apps, then they should reject those apps during the review process.

Apple never said they would reject new apps w/the iAd API from the store, just not allow new apps into the iAd 'network'. I'm guessing the API will live past the deadline.

But if you mean they should detect that API use on submittal, and alert the dev up front on the chance they haven't gotten the news, feel free to file bugs against the process. I agree it could be handled better, but I think the root issue is with their communication, which if improved, could make the implementation/shut-down/change over process easier to swallow.

Guessing the program's death came suddently, so as it is, devs are apparently forced to wait for WWDC to find out what things will look like going forward. They're too busy cleaning out cubicles to worry about us lowly devs 😕

Hello XenoblazeCoder,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding your app.

You are correct. We are no longer accepting new apps into the network (effective January 15, 2016) and the iAd App Network will be discontinued as of June 30, 2016. If you’d like to continue promoting your apps through iAd until then, you can create a campaign using iAd Workbench. We will continue to keep you updated, but if you have any questions, contact us.

so.. wil widgets made with iAd Producer continue to work in ebooks made with iBooks Author?

... and can anyone suggest an alternative to iAd Producer for iBooks Author widgets... particularly one that enables us to combine WYSYWYG with code for developers?

TIA

1001movies,

I've been wondering how Apple will address this. I hold out hope that they will continue to support this feature of iAd producer through another free app. I was a big fan of how iAd producer handled iBooks widgets creation. I've found at least one alternative and it's pretty impressive from what I've seen so far. It's a program called Hype 3 from Tumult. It's on the App Store also, which is nice. The software isn't free but I've been very impressed with what I got for my money, to include a nice developer forum to ask questions and a very helpful group of programmers who are there to help.

Like I said, it's not free but it is pretty awesome.

1001movies,

And in answer to your question, because the widgets are all created in iAd producer and there isn't a network needed to support them, only iBooks Author, they should work even after the cutoff date. In fact, my guess is that even after the cutoff, you will still be able to create widgets using the program until the OS outgrows the app and it is no longer functioning. The same thing happened to the Dashcode app, the predecessor to iAd producer (at least in the iBooks widgets sense.) The OS just outgrew and it was no longer supported.
