Apple watch downgrade. I know it's not 'possible' but...

My issue is that I want my activity data from my backup of my phone on iOS 8.3. I didn't think of not being able to continue that activity data when upgrading to iOS 9 and watchOS 2. Any suggestions?

If you did install iOS9 as an upgrade your data should be there on the phone. If your did wipe your phone during the install process just restore it with the backup data from the last backup before upgrading.

But downgrading after installing iOS9 or watchOS 2 is not recommended. It can work on the phone but as some iOS upgrades also update the firmware for cellular connections you can have many problems after a downgrade. For watchOS 2 a downgrade is not possible.

Just a note on this. Unless you had an encrypted iTunes Backup of your device I don't think your Healthkit data will be available. It's not backed up to iCloud and only with an encrypted iTunes backup.

I restored my iPhone from backup from iTunes after installing the beta and restored Watch, though watch I haven't install OS2 as I don't need to test that yet. Lost all my activity data. No big deal, just thought I'd add my experience so it's another data point 🙂

HealthKit data *is* backed up in iCloud Backups.

But only if the backup is encrypted

My Activity data was carried across when I went from 8.x to 9.0. I had a full backup (encrypted) on my desktop Mac, but it would have been carried over if I'd backed up to iCloud as well.

BUT any Health/Activity data is ONLY backed up if you have ecnrypted selected

My backup was encrypted and my activity data didn't go through. What should I do?

WOW my activity data appeared now! I didn't do anything but wait. I hope that it will save when upgrading to future betas.
