Disk Utility - 10.11 - Partition External HD

In El Capitan (10.11) - I am not able to partition or modify an external HD via Disk Utility.

The external HD is recognized by Disk Utility but "fails the operation" when the Modify option is selected.

After several attempts, Disk Utility shuts down unexpectedly, and generates a crash report.

Has anyone else run into this?

It's true!! The Disk Utility don't have the "repair permission" options and does not allow changing the partitions in the internal SSD with the same old app options!

I thought I ruined my hard drive using this disk utility. I tried doing bootcamp in the beta and it failed. I lost space and just had no luck with the beta. Used a Yosemiti flash boot drive and used that disk utility and it worked.

Has anyone noticed any changes in the Beta 2 of 10.11?

I am working on a few scripts to automate external drive partitions, and have found little to no functionality in 10.11

Cheers.

Sounds like you need the diskutil command.

Type man diskutil in a terminal window.

I checked and we can use diskutil list to show all the partition.

At the end I found out Tuxera NTFS was the problem. It conflict with Disk Utility and allow to see Macintosh HD only.

Bootcamp and external hardisk not showing at El Capitan Disk Utility.

Solution, may uninstall the Tuxera while you need to use Disk Utility.
