I have launched my app - we have been around and we are very sucessful. However, a new app wants to piggy back of our sucess and is trying to launch with our name but with an extra 2 characters in the name.
I don't have the legal trademark as its generic (no one can get it), but I have legal priority of it and have spent a lot of money. Can I stop the other app from launching? If so, how?

It's unclear what you mean by 'legal priority'. A name is usually trademarked - and you seem to suggest that you have no rights to the trademark on the name. You may have a claim to a copyright on the for of expression of the idea as embodied in your app ("original works of authorship") - provided the other app actually copies the way you express your idea with similar graphics, text and the like. But unfortunately other than trademark, copyright and patents there is no thing as 'legal priority', IMHO.
