How stable is the iOS 10 beta right now?

I realize it is generally not smart to put a beta release on your main device, but could I get away with it with the iOS 10 developer beta? Does it crash a lot?

I personally wouldn't install it on any device you might need to save your life. So I'm not installing on my main phone, but will install on my backup iPhone 5. Will also install in on my Ipad 2 since I rarely use it.

Thanks for the comments, I think I'll wait at least until the next beta release. Thanks

In my case (iPhone SE) it runs very stable and with good battery life for the first beta. But I already heard, that not everyone is that lucky. So if you really need your device every day (and have no other iPhone to use in case of big problems), you should not install it.

I have iOS 10 running on my 9.7" iPad Pro and my iPhone 6S Plus. Most of the time there are no problems and I had only a few minor app crashes. Battery life on the phone is great (at least as good as under iOS 9), but the battery life on the iPad is somewhat less (but not alarmly so).

There are defintely bugs. I noted, for instance:

  • No audio through my headphones on the iPad
  • Messages on the iPhone gets stuck in handwriting mode when in landscape (but works fine in portrait mode)
  • The Stuff.co.nz app sometimes fails to load the news, but restarting the app solves it.
  • Sometimes I can not clear a notification on the lock screen.

Nothing out of the ordinary and pretty stable really for a first beta.

in my case, I got frequent app crashes. The reason seems to be frequent low memory.

my phone is iPhone 6 plus

The first beta is always pretty OK, but not great (at least from what I've seen the last 5 years or so).... Defintely don't put it on a production machine.
