mail.app doesn't auth to IMAP server

I had mail.app working just fine on previous releases of OSX. However after upgrading it's not able to connect to my mail server.

I'm using SSL Port 993 and I can see in the mail logs that it never tries to send authentication..

imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx, TLS handshaking: Disconnected, session=<gC5+nWY1sgDAqAo4>

Found that mail.app no longer likes expired or self signed certificates...There are no errors on the client you just can't authenticate! 😟

I have just had the same problem with 10.12. I was trying to connect to my own IMAP server.

The server is using a self-signed certificate. I used keychain on 10.12 to force 'Always trust' and now Mail connects just fine.

Hope this helps someone else... Jonathan

Hello, unfortunately I have seen the same behaviour with my configuration and the same errors in the logs:

imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=xx.xx.xx.xx, lip=xx.xx.xx.xx, TLS handshaking: Disconnected

Configuration:

- Client MacBook Pro 15 late 2011, macOS 10.12 (16A239j)

- Server Mac mini Server OS X 10.11.5 (15F34), server 5.1.5 (15S7047)

Curious thing, in the first beta it was working fine.
