Expiry of iOS betas?

Never heard of that? who told you was maybe thinking of the upcomimg Beta 2 which is not out yet.

No I mean the current Beta 1. I thought all beta builds for iOS expire eventually? I just never knew how people found out the dates which they did so.... I read a couple of folks online that said Beta 1 is to expire very soon.

If you installed via the iOS Beta Software Profile you can check the date it is set to expire in the settings on the phone. The one for iOS 10 shows exp dates in 2019 and 2028... so i think we should be okay.

I saw those dates in the provisioning profile but ignored them because I didn't think they had to do with the iOS beta expiring. Do they? If so I guess this must be new then cause I thought iOS Betas always had a shelf life of a few weeks to avoid bugs being reported on deprecated betas.

This is a good example of why devs shouldn't be casually sniffing around like that - there are multiple profiles/certs, including ones that configure your participation in the beta program, profiles that pertain to the currently installed beta, Apple root certs and Apple's WWDR (2028) cert.

I seriously doubt the current iOS beta will be authorized to continue to run all the way into 2019.

The dates I have are July 1, 2016 and May 24, 2028.

July 1, 2016 is the expiration date for the configuration profile tied to your participation in the iOS Beta Program. As an example iOS 9.3.3 public beta users would see the same profile. Updating now to iOS 9.3.4 creates a fresh beta program profile, with a pushed out expiration.

May 24, 2028 is Apple's WWDR certificate expiration date and is not beta specific.

The number one requirement for every dev and for individuals that participate in betas for sport, is patience. It's not easy, we know, but in the end, it's far better for all involved, so if only one thing is learned by installing a beta, please let it be patience.

No that wasn't the intent of my question at all, I was just curious how people find out the expiry date of a beta release. It seems that this date it is not in the profile, nor anywhere in the IPSW archive. There's a Release Date but I know that's not it.

I don't put betas on my main device so the release of the next beta doesn't matter to me all that much. Did it once and wouldn't do it again. I can see why people who do so would want to know.
