My battery is going down very fast! From 100% until 0% it takes about 6-7 hours without using any apps on my watch (but I have installed several). No app is in my dock. Compared to last beta: I used my watch two days before I had to recharge.
Battery life of watchOS3 beta2
All my devices (3 computers, 1 iPhone, 1 iPad, 1 Apple Watch) drain pretty fast too. This is expected, alas. It was always the case that beta software is not optimised for battery life. And the constant logging for crashes and errors makes it more process intensive :-/
Yeah, sadly this is expected, especially in the first or second betas. It's actually still not as bad as the WatchOS 2 beta, but is unfortunate for anyone who installs it on their non development only watch. I haven't installed it on my iPad yet, and may not based on what i'm seeing on my phone.
Yes, battery life seem hugely reduced compared to beta 1. I'm down at 70% already after 3 hours, so it's not looking like it'll make a full day.
Big issue with battery life too. Is there a link with auto unlock with Apple Watch on macOS?
I have the drain problem too and unlock activated.
I have the same problem too. The consumption is doubled.
No noticeable change here with 42mm watch - same as beta 1 for me. Strange.
I was noticing the same thing. I saw a reference to Maps being a battery drain on iOS 10 and I removed it from the dock on my Apple Watch. It's still early for a real judgment, but it seems much better now. It's only gone down 4% in over three hours. Before, it had gone down 60% in 7 hours.
Mine was too until I went in and disabled notifications for 3rd party apps. Now it's back to normal. I found that by noticing battery life was much much longer with Do Not Disturb enabled. Try it and see if it works for you.
I know from the previous beta's I had issues with battery drain as well. The best thing I found was to unpair the watch and then re-pair it after an update. Seemed to do the trick
Hi,
what helps me on 2 watches is to disable the backround update on the watch app.... so i have o full day use with 50% after 16 hours!
Take attention to heart rate sensor always on. Mine's always turning on suddenly. And if my arm is down watch turns on screen and heart sensor too. Some days it happens and others doesn't.
I’ve noticed that the Pedometer++ complication vastly decreases my battery life on watchOS 3. For the time being I’ve removed it, and I’m back to having all-day battery life.
I've actually noticed that when I disabled "Hey Siri" on my iPhone 6S Plus using beta 2 (to address bluetooth audio communication issues), that my Apple Watch battery was noticeably better than before making that change.
In my defence, I don't think that there was any one app that I disabled notifications for, so this is the only thing that I can think of being the issue.
(At 12:10 AM on Wednesday July 13th, after having worn my watch all day, I was only down to 46%.)
Onto beta 3 for both of them, hope that the battery stays just as good.
Scott
My Apple Watch v. 1 only went down to about 50% after a long day, until I got my new MBPro and activated Unlock with AppleWatch. Now my watch isn't lasting the day.
