I cannot connect to icloud account from El Capitan

When I upgraded my operating system to El Capitan, iCloud just asked me to reset my password, I followed and reset it. Then I can not connect to iCloud then I log into El Capitan. Every time I clicked Preference->iCloud will cause a freeze and have to force quit the preference.

Furthermore, I tried terminal utilities in Command+R, and use 'resetpassword', which shows no volumn and users available, with the support from the apple call, then support team said I have to come here to get further help, unfortunately.

Anyone caused same issue and how to fix it?

Thanks a lot.

Many people had this same issue. I solved it by deleting all files from the following folder:

/Users/<YOUR HOME FOLDER>/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts

Then reboot.

I was then able to get into the iCloud preference pane, where it asked me for my new password. After giving it, all was working again.

Yes, when i posted this question, i saw more like this questions, and tried the process, it worked.

Thanks very much, for your warmful answers.🙂

Hi Max,

I am having the same problem, but deleting the files you suggested does not work for me. Also when I go to App Store>Purchases it asks me to sign in to view and when I put my Apple ID and password the process hangs for ever and have to force quit the application.

any clues?

Many thanks
