iOS 9 beta iCloud backup can't be deleted

I had iOS 9 beta for a little while and my iCloud did a backup, then I downgraded to iOS 8.3 due to bugs, and I wanted to delete my backup for extra storage, but it won't let me do it on any platform (iPhone, Mac). What should I do because I need that storage

Just wanted to let everyone know I found the temporary fix for this:

1) On a Mac go to settings>iCloud

2) On the bottom right hand corner click on "manage"

3) Click on the "backups" tab and you can delete the iOS 9 backups

4) Go to your iphone/ipad and you will see they are gone

On Windows (assuming you have iCloud installed and running)

1) Click on the iCloud icon on your task bar

2) Click "open iCloud"

3) On the bottom right hand corner click on "storage"

4) You can once again delete your backups on the backups tab

I received a notification on my Bug Reporter claims that is a duplicate of reporter 20244583

Could the one who filled that reporter post an update about any progress made by Apple Develper about this issue

I am having the same issue as well. After updating to iOS9 on my iPad I could no longer back up due to insufficient storage space. I also could not delete the old back up. I called into the regular help desk and a technician was able to delete the old back up to free up my space so my iPhone running iOS 8.4 could back up again. Still cannot backup my iPad due to it saying my backup is too large.

Same here and I don't see the backup on the Mac and it's not deletable on the iPhone. Cant't run an icloud backup. This truly is the worst set of betas Apple has released as far back as I can recall. Maybe the whole intiial implemenation of iCloud from .Mac was pretty bad but combine all the OS togther and this year round is quite a doozy!

I had the very same problem, I contacted the guys from support and they instructed me to check on iCloud and see how my iCloud storage was used, I found that I had a backup I couldn't see on the iPhone or the iPad, so I went to the iPhone, it said it had a backup with 0 KB of size, I tried to delete it once, it didn't, I did it a second time and it did and released my storage. I'm sure it may not work for everyone but it did for me.

I have similar issues but deletion is not the problem. Once you delete and start fresh the backup file continues to grow with each daily backup. It seems that it just appends to the backup. With each nightly backup the file grows larger and larger. Let me know if any of you have monitored this as well?? Note your backup file size.

Hi!

What I just did in my phone to solve it:

1. Activate iCloud.

2. On iCloud settings, activate Backup and create backup from there.

3. On Storage, a backup of 0 KB appeared, I deleted it and then my storage was freed from ghost backup. However, in the iCloud settings, it appeared "3.2 GB available" so...

4. I restarted the iCloud settings and it showed me 5GB again.

I got, This Backup Cannot be deleted at this time

try this telephone number call the developers of ios 9 data the phone number is 800-633-2152

From above can comfirm this works. You will have to do it on each device you think may have backup up to the icloud.

Note...Once you re-eanble backup, then on Setting>>Cloud>>Storage>>Manage Storage>> Device Name Backup, wait for this screen to populate with information (i.e the current backup file size in my case ipad 1.4GB & iphone 2GB) then icloud then select delete option below.

Back to Setting>>iCloud and turn off backup again. Bob's your uncle,

Managed to get 3.4GB back myself.

I tried to do the above steps but i always got "This Backup Cannot be deleted at this time". That errors appears when device is doing a backup.

Same here 😟 I can delete de backup from OS X but it won't restore my available space

ssa e issue here none of the solution work...

i Have iPhone and iPad with ios 9 pb4

we need to wait an official solution I think ... 😟

Seems impossible but I finally got the solution. First of all update to iOS 9 beta 5. Then, if you haven't already, go activate the backup in the iCloud Settings. Now, go to Setting>>Cloud>>Storage>>Manage Storage>> Device Name Backup. While the backup appears of 0 KB, we all know that isn't true. Going in the backup details finally in beta 5 it succeded loading the list of apps who are in the backup. I disabled all the apps (long and boring process) and then I succeded in deleting the backup (before I got the funny "This Backup Cannot be deleted at this time" message). Doing this seems to have deleted the backup and all the ghost space it stole in the previous betas.

This did not resolve it for me. After following these steps I still have phantom backups.
