I bought a new iPad Pro 9.7 to update to iOS 10. 🙂 Currently, it is at iOS 9.3.
# of tries and failures to install/update it to iOS 10 beta
iOS 10 beta 3
1. Tried updating it using my developer's account - restore image for iPad Pro 9.7 - Error: Can't update File firmware Corrupted 😝
2. Downloaded it again, same error updating it on iTunes 😐
Decided to just try the public Beta (iOS 10 beta 2)
4. First download - was able to download it but problem occurred during installation. After the logo of Apple shows in the restart, it became black with 3 steps image instructions: 1. Reset (I think) 2. Wait for 10 secs 3. Plug. I followed it, it just returned back to iOS 9.3. And requires to redownload and install again. 😐
5. Ok I need to download it again, cannot download for some reason. Deleted the profile for the public beta then reinstall profile. Cannot download the update. So I tried using VPN. Was able to download it. Great. Time to install it. Same thing happened, except based on the steps, Step 1 is now to remove the usb plug from the iPad. Done that again, Fail. Back to square 1 - iOS 9.3. (I noticed that when I pull the plug, it shows low battery indicator considering that the iPad is fully charged).
6. Did the same thing again. Now, I don't want to pull the plug because it will detect that the battery is drained or something. But again that instruction is telling me to remove the plug. I can't move pass that. I tried to wait. Nothing happened. I have to pull it. 😕 Back to iOS 9.3.
Decided to go back and try the iOS 10 beta 3 instead:
7. Downloaded a fresh one. Install via iTunes. Fail. Error: File Firmware corrupted. 😟
8. Downloaded latest Xcode 8 beta 3 to replace old Xcode beta. Installed iOS 10 beta 3 via iTunes - Failed 😐
9. Ok try OTA. Deleted profiles and install new profile to iPad. Started downloading using VPN because can't download without it. Was able to download it and then time to install. Same response, the black screen with 3 steps photo instructions. There is nothing I can do but to follow it and as expected it just goes back to the old version iOS 9.3. ☹️
OK tried it for the 10th time using OTA, again same issue with 9th time try. 😠😕😟
NOTE: I tried rebooting and all, but no help on this issue. I have downloaded so much Gig of iOS 10 beta installers and internet speed in my area is slow. I made sure that during download and installation my iPad is plugged.
HELP: Any Apple Employee who can help resolve this issue or any anyone who have experience this problem and did a workaround on this? Thanks.
I was able to install iOS 10 beta 2 at last!!! 😁
Here's what I did on my 11th try:
Since it was a new iPad, the initial OS was just 9.3, so I decided to update it first to 9.3.3.
(To do that, make sure you have uninstalled/deleted the profile for beta that was save on your device or else you wouldn't be able to see the 9.3.3 update).
After that, I decided to try the public beta again (iOS 10 beta 2).
1. Downloading the profile directly from https://beta.apple.com website.
2. Then downloading iOS 10 beta 2 via OTA using VPN because it is impossible to download it without VPN.
3. Waited for a few hours and then install, it was able to push thru.
Yey! 🙂
NOTE: I don't know if this was related to updating it first to 9.3.3 or the new downloaded version for iOS 10 beta 2 was a better download. But i'm just happy this works.
