Developer Preview over Public Beta?

Is it possible to install a newer Developer Preview over an older Public beta?

I had strange issues installing Developer Preview 3, it looked like the install worked but when I logged back on DP2 was still installed. So I tried Public Beta 2 and it did indeed install with a higher version number. Just for fun I tried reinstalling DP3 again but instead Beta 2 was reinstalled.

I am hoping I can somehow get back on track with the Developer Preview when 4 comes out.

Hello, ThePrimate, Yes, it is possible to install an update over an existing build. I just downloaded the update myself and the Mac OS Recovery Update. I had some issues getting it to finish the download due to a problem verifying. I just restarted and downloaded again and this it reinstalled. That the way it goes with these downloads, even in El Capitan. The probelm with filing a bug report because it's not reproducable. An ER might helpbut.

I am happy to say that DP4 just released installed perfectly over Public Beta and now I am back on track again.

Possible but in some situations, not advisable. The resulting installation may lack a cleanliness that would be associated with a less mixed environment.
