The battery life on mine as many is terrible on this iOS 9 Beta 1. Though if you turn off location services completely it seems to increase.
Still not great but its better.
Hopefully with the feedback they have received we may se Beta 2 either Today or NEXT Monday.
This might be the same as when iOS8 was released, there was alot of additional logging if i remember correctly and this improved as the Betas when along
The first betas of iOS 8 were TERRIBLE with battery life, you are correct. I forgot all about the logging that was going on.

I confirm also ISO 9 installed on an Iphone 6plus drain my battery in less than 8 Hour
Wait for beta 2
If you're getting 8 hours, you should be feeling lucky. A lot of us are getting 5 hours at best.

Same issue - sometimes getting less than an hour with moderate - heavy usage (no external sound tho).
