Cannot Enable Apple Email Account

When I attempt to add my iCloud email account, either through iCloud preferences or through Apple Mail the result is the same.


Upon supplying the "Correct" Apple ID and password for my account and clicking "Sign In", the dialog box exits and the account is not added.


Any thoughts on why this might occur?

I did try all of the standard methods of troubleshooting, including your suggestion.

However, none worked until...


I signed out, deleted all iCloud related files including Keychain entries.


Voila!

Log out of your iCloud account and then log back in. Worked for me.
