How do I uninstall El Capitan and reinstall Yosemite? Too many bugs in this early build - even for testing apps.
How do I uninstall El Capitan
There should be at least 2 ways of doing this:
A:
- Reboot and hold down Command+R to enter Recovery mode (You can also hold alt/option and choose “Recovery HD”)
- At the OS X Utilities menu, choose “Restore From Time Machine Backup”
- Connect the Time Machine drive that contains the most recent Yosemite backup to the Mac, then click “Continue”... etc.
B:
- Re-download Yosemite from the Purchases tab of the App Store
- Refer to the following support article for how to make an installer on a temporary partition/USB/external drive:https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201372
- Reboot, holding alt/option, and choose the new installer partition/drive. It should be fairly straightforward from there.
You may also be able to make a clone of your machine, do a clean OSX install, and point the migration wizard at the upgraded machine.
That sometimes works, and will preserve any data changes. Restoring from Time Machine can be problematic for certain kinds of files (like virtual machines for example).
have you gotten anywhere with this?
