Leaderboard set errors

A few weeks ago I setup leaderboad sets no problem for the app I am developing. It was working great in sandbox. Something changed recently. When I go to the app's iTunesConnect page, there are now a ton of errors.. about 1 for each leaderboard saying "Leaderboard grp.myAppLeaderboard1 is not a member of a leaderboard set attached to version 1.0."

I have all leaderboards as members of my leaderboard sets. I am so confused. I can't make any changes to my iTunesConnect page because of these errors. When I try to save, I get an error saying it could not save.

I was able to delete all my Leaderboard sets, and it was able to respond and save again. I went through the long process to make them again and add all my leaderboards to the sets. It still worked. Then I added the leaderboards sets to the section "Leaderboard Sets" for review and bam! All the errors showed up again.

I don't get it!

Hello chadwyk,

I had a similar problem with the same errors in red a couple weeks ago and was able to fix it, although I don’t know if your situation was exactly the same as mine. I got a clue after reading this from the Apple Developer documentation:

“Before you can delete a leaderboard set, you must make sure all leaderboards in the set are also in another set and then you must remove the leaderboards from the set you want to delete. You can’t remove a leaderboard from a leaderboard set unless that leaderboard is already in another set.”

Although you did state that you were able to delete all your leaderboard sets, if I remember correctly, I did something like this.

  1. (not sure if I did this first step) went to main “Versions” page and made sure all leaderboards were -unselected- in both leaderboard sets section, and also, in leaderboards section and then -saved-.
  2. went back to “Game Centre” section and created a “dummy” leaderboard set
  3. attached -all- my leaderboards to this dummy set (a leaderboard can be part of more than one set)
  4. removed all leaderboards from my other sets
  5. deleted all -other- leaderboard sets
  6. went back to main “Versions” page and made sure all leaderboards were -unselected- in both leaderboard sets section, and also, in leaderboards section and then -saved-.
  7. went back to “Game Centre” section and created the new leaderboard sets I needed (did -not- delete the dummy set yet)
  8. added my leaderboards to their appropriate sets
  9. -now- removed all the leaderboards from the dummy set
  10. -now- deleted the dummy leaderboard set
  11. went back to main “Versions” page and added my leaderboard sets
  12. pressed save and all was well

I hope this helps!

Yeah that is basically what I did, only instead of moving them to a temporary set, I just removed them from all sets which deleted my sets.

It is a huge pain to move them all to a temporary set then move them back because you have to create "Display Names" for them each time you move them. I have way too many leaderboards to want to do that again unless I know it's going to work.

Still waiting to hear back from Apple Support after I sent them screenshots and a full explanation...

I have been getting this errors for weeks. I can't release the app because this is broken. Basically no matter what I do I can't save after I started getting this error.

It is extremly frustrating. I contacted Apple and they said they are "working on it". Two weeks later I am still getting the error.

Anyone knows a workaround?

Oh man that is highly discouraging! I contacted Apple last Thursday. Today is Monday, and I asked them for an update and they said that they have their senior advisors on my case and they are working internally on it.

My App is all ready to be submitted for review too! I hope they fix this bug fast!!! I may have to call if I don't hear back from them. Just keep pesting them until I get results.

I know. I can't sleep at night because of this.

I have called apple several times and they don't have an answer or solution yet.

2 weeks to solve this problem is way too much i think. I am wondering if i will ever be able to publish the app. I am REALLY worried.

I have found this but the solutions people give are useless.

They dont seem to understand that we cant make a single change because we CANT save!

I ended up removing my leaderboard sets, since that was the root of the error. When I did that, I was able to save again. So I submit my app last night. I'll re-add them if they ever get back to me and fix them. I have less than 100 leaderboards so it is ok for now - though it would be nice to have them in groups!

I have the exact same problem. I've removed all my leaderboards from sets so i can now save again. So now i just have individual leaderboards which are not in sets. I am planning to submit the app like this and then put the leaderboards into sets once they have fixed the bug. But i'm not sure if you can put leaderboards into sets once an app goes live? are you able to do this? i would test it, but i currently don't have any live apps which use leaderboards.

Hello,

Today there are similar red messages on iTunes Connect page of my app :

"Leaderboard XXX is not a member of a leaderboard set attached to version 1.0"

repeated 27 times

I got 27 leaderboards and 3 leaderboards set.

No problem around code/sandbox side : I can post scores from my app and retreive them from game center leaderboards set views.

You wrote before "they are working internally on it" :

Did they give you any news about this issue ?

That's what they told me when I called. Honestly i am tired of calling and sending emails. I dont know how serious this bug is but not getting any information or alternatives is frustrating.

I suggest that you call Apple yourself otherwise how are they going to know it is a widespread issue?

Thanks. I will try that.

The problem is that i have over 100 levels so it can be frustrating to load the list.

I am curious about this too. Can you move them into sets after publishing the app?

I've just submit a bug to Apple with "Apple Bug Reporter" tool.

In bug report, I mentionned our problem and this forum thread.

No I have yet to hear back from them.

They told me yesterday that their engineers are working on it. Same reply as 2 weeks ago.

I hope they understand how crucial it is to fix this.

Sets are working for me now. Apple didnt tell me, i just tried today as usual and now i works. The NIGHTMARE is over, or is it?
