Phone Dies with around 50% Battery

I have been running iOS 10 beta for a while on my iPhone 6. When I upgraded to beta 6, my phone started dying with 40-60% battery. When I would charge it, it would start at the same percentage it died at.

The battery still lasts 10-12 hours, so it seems that the battery percent isn't reported right. Anyone else seeing this? Do you think it is a problem with my battery or with the beta software? I already did a dfu reload of the beta onto the phone, but I still have the same issue.

Thinking about trying to go back to iOS9, but don't want to give up the features.

So I didn't have problems with beta 5, started with beta 6 and continued with beta 7. I'm loading beta 8 on now. Will let you know if it continues.

@crslade

did it imporve in beta 8?

Nope, same problems. When I use a power hungry app, it drains super fast. I have been using a battery app to see if my battery is broken. It reports that the battery is fine. When I use the power hungry app (Facetime), it then shows that the battery is broken. I might try a DFU and downgrade to iOS 9 to see if the battery is still having a problem.

Beta have always been notorious for lacking comprehensive power management, so...

If the final release shows issues w/your battery, consider walking your phone into the nearest Apple Store. I doubt that will be necessary, tho.

Happens to me as well.

Plugging it in forces it to restart to Apple and starts up quicker then a regular reboot.

Let's hope GM solves it. Just loaded it with a DFU restore to make sure nothing from beta sticks around.

This is a quite common error that also happens on iOS 9. It was originally assumed to have something to do with cold temperatures (happened often between 0-10°C), but it kept popping up for users I know even in the summer. Here is an article from a German tech site, I have the problem myself on my 6S. http://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/meldung/iPhone-6s-Kaelte-legt-Geraete-lahm-3119310.html
