I'm converting an existing app to be just an iMessage app. It seems to work when putting the new app on the device but does anyone know if this is something Apple will allow?

I tried to submit my archive and the error message I received was "ERROR ITMS-90639: Invalid Binary. The value of LSApplicationLaunchProhibited in Info.plist can't change after your app has been released.".
Can anyone from Apple comment? I want to convert my app to an iMessage app. I don't want to have to bundle all my media assets twice in an iOS app and an iMessage extension.
I submitted a bug report and never received a response but I still get this same error when submitting with Xcode 8 GM so you can't convert an existing app to an iMessage only app which is disappointing. You are forced to create an entire new app to make this transition.
