Getting an Epson Printer "Filter Failed"

Hi Everyone,

I had the same issue when updated last night to newest mac os sierra.

Now I have downgrade to the last ( 10.12 Beta ) version from backup and could print anything again otherwise no more printing with newest version.

Yes, the "Filter failed" bug seems to be a general one with the latest 10.12.1 Beta, it's not just Epson printers as far as I can see. I have two Macs and three printers, and the error is coming up for all configurations. I was on the phone for an hour with an Apple senior support tech, and we weren't able to figure it out. It looks like the only solution will--hopefully--come with an update, I don't see a workaround with this at the moment.

I used to fix printers have yet to see a 'filter failed" error. Please Apple; give us a fix on Beta 2; Print we Must!

Same here - no difference in Beta 1 and 2. "Filter Failed" errors when printing to Epson and Cannon printers.

Please lets find a fix! We need to print; whether its a driver update or Beta 3. Is there some hack workaround?? Thanks

Has not worked for me on Beta 2 or the production release of 10.12 either. Temporary solution is to install the printer with the default AirPrint Driver which works but has some limited functionality.

Same problem here. I did everything to get the printer working. Followed all the possible fixes but nothing did work for me. EPSON WP4545 DNF : working, Brother HL 4140 CN: working, EPSON STYLUS PHOTO R3000: not working. filter failed error.

FIX !!!!

Installed the Gutenprint drivers for MAC OS. R 3000: working without problems but has some limited functionality regarding maintenance of the printer. But this can be handled with the installed Epson Software.

Issue appears resolve with Beta 3 release today.

Yes; Beta 3 resolved the issue; although the installation of Beta 3 was no easy feat.
