I can't use phone as phone after update

So after just updating my 6+ 128GB, I tried to make a phone call and it appeared to connect but I couldnt hear anything through the receiver. No ringing or the person picking up. The screen on the iPhone became frozen as well and I really couldn't get it to recover for about 5 minutes or until I hard resetted.

It won't even let me search contacts without freezing.

I restored as new and the phone worked for about an hour but the next time I went to use it... Same thing. I made sure my bluetooth wasn't connected to headphones.

Suspected issues:

-Maybe syncing with the Apple Watch is giving it the fits.

-iCloud connection is throwing it off. (I don't remember having an issue before signing into iCloud)

-iCloud photos is causing a problem. (I have a LOT of photos and it's choking on syncing them.)

Is anyone experiencing anything like this?

Did you set your phone up as a new phone and then import contacts or did you use icloud when starting your phone to sync everything back?

Used icloud for everything the first time. The second time I performed a test call which was successful. Then I signed into iCloud and when it was done syncing, I tried it again and had the error. So that eliminated a corrupt app and shined a light on icloud.

Maybe try to start it up as a new phone. I used a laptop to import all my apps & music. I have no issues with mine thus far.

I did Start as new but I havent restored from iTunes yet. Gonna try that right now

OK SO I restored as new a few times to pinpoint the issue. The short of it is there is something corrupt in my backup thats causing this issue.

Resetting the settings fixed the issue. Now the phone works.

Only issue now is that my apps wont download after restore even if I wait. That's annoying. But, one issue at a time I guess.
