Big Sur iCloud Drive

I am having the same issue. After clicking to 'check' Desktop & Documents Folders, it will automatically uncheck itself after I click to another window.

I just installed the first Public Beta and it does seem like the Documents and Desktop option is completely gone now. It doesn't even show up as a button in the System Preferences for iCloud like it used to. Why would they remove it? It seems like a perfect feature to have in this age of multiple devices.

I'm having a major problem with iCloud Drive. I happened to copy a large photo library to the desktop (and didn't realize I had Desktop and Documents enabled). It is attempting to upload 600GB to iCloud. I moved the file from the desktop to another non-iCloud folder, but it still appears to be attempting to upload it. Now, it is crashing the finder whenever iCloud folders are selected in the sidebar. I have no way to select iCloud folders any other way. Won't actually show the desktop and any iCloud enabled apps are having issues as well (Numbers won't launch if I click on the app, though if I open a document from the finder, it will open). I've tried to disable iCloud Drive in preferences, deselect the Desktop+Documents option and restarted numerous times. It is a big problem. I've dutifully submitted feedback through the Beta app (I realize that this is a one-way system of feedback so I'm coming to the forums to see what my options are). So far, aside from reinstalling the beta, the only solution that could work is disabling iCloud Drive but that has eluded me as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, what's odd is that I'm able to click on the iCloud activity icon (turns into an "i" and the Uploading x items dialogue pops up). The dialogue shows a rapidly increasing number of items (210,000 at last count) and below that "43GB of 561GB" both numbers increasing. What's interesting is that in Activity Monitor there doesn't appear to be any significant network activity up or down. For kicks I tried to figure out what the upload speed is and it clocked in 10GB per minute which is not possible even with my fiber connection. My upload speeds via Speed Test are around 20Mb/Sec (download is 200). So not sure what is going on. It says it is uploading (now 233,000 items, as I write this) but clearly, that is not happening. I guess I'll wait it out and see what happens. Maybe it is counting the files to upload. But poor functionality, I guess.

I moved my last comments to a separate thread. Not sure how to delete these. Still having problems, tho.

Beta 8 still won't sync Desktop and Document folders to iCloud Drive and the options button next to iCloud Drive is still missing in iCloud Drive under the Apple ID pref pane
As a result of this, you can't share your files from your Mac across your devices.

Same in Beta 9

Anything from Apple on what beta release is targeted for this to be fixed?

same issue here. On System Preferences > iCloud, iCloud Drive is selected but there is no option available for Desktop and Documents.
On System Preferences > Internet Accounts > iCloud, then iCloud Drive as the Options button. I selected Desktop & Documents Folders and it seems to work, icons have the cloud badge as if syncing. My old Desktop/Documents are not showing, if I go to iCloud.com/drive I can see my old files, but not the new ones.

I am having the same issue; I turned off icloud drive syncronitation, then I turned it on againg and every mising folder apears.

I am running Big Sur 11.0.1 and I am unable to see all of my icloud folders. I can access them from my ipad and iphone. This is very frustrating.

Same issue here — 11.0.1.

I reinstalled the OS multiple times. I completely wiped the computer and reinstalled from a backup and it still occurs. I even attempted to set it up as new and let it run for a day — but still no iCloud progress.

I did a test, I created an empty folder and the magic happened, this action forces the update of the whole folder (including files and folders). Make and share the results.

I have same issues. Any help?

I have the same problem. How do I upload a file to icloud in finder period? I made the mistake of dragging the icloud folder from within finder back onto my desktop, and now I have a local copy of my icloud folder on my desktop, but I have completely lost the ability to upload anything to icloud with out going through a web browser...

I have same issue with 11.0.1. I am looking for the solution.

What I did is go to -> User/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud Drive... There are your local files, the iCloud Drive on finder sidebar has the files from your apps. Just drag that folder to the sidebar. Now you can access both.

The issue for me started 2 days after upgrading to Big Sur. Nothing fixed it even a clean install. I also was on the phone with apple support for hours.

Downgrading to Catalina worked.

After a week of this I updated to Big Sur again yesterday. So far it is ok.

It started when I upgraded my Mini 2014 to Big Sur. I could see the iCloud folder with content but desktop and document folder did not show any cloud data. I created empty folders on both macs in the desktop and documents folders and the visited iCloud in the browser. The new folders appeared, I clicked on them and the updating process started immediately.

I ran into this too, on a new MacBook with Big Sur. This fixed it...

Go to System Preferences>
Apple ID>
iCloud Drive>
Options>
then click checkmark box for "Desktop & Documents Folders"

This problem still exists with 11.3 beta. Files in cloud are not able to be located from Mac finder or within application. They do exist in iCloud. Really weird and messed up problem that has not been resolved.

Apple, where's the fix for this?
