I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 7. Let's grab something we all have in common. May be we could figure out the exact reason. I've updated it to iOS 14.0.1 about a week from now.

Just before all this happened, my phone just fall on the table. i was shooting a video in a selfie-mode, so i had to make the phone stand up, but it fell onto the table. i thought it was nothing until started to restart every 3 minutes. plus it won't charge. The spark sign comes when i plug it in, but it's not charging.

Hello i had the problem (iPhone crashing every 180 sec because of thermalmonitord) with my iPhone XS Max when I updated to the 13.6.
i resolved the problem by going into DFU mode then restore and update to latest version (14.2 at the moment I’m writing).
doing the update only wasn’t working for me. You need to click on restore and update on iTunes.
If it doesn’t work try with another lightning.
