Safari 14 on Catalina high energy usage

Anyone having issues with Safari 14 using high energy? It keeps causing the fans to kick into high on my MacBook Pro 16 in.
I have this exact same issue. 400-500% CPU within 30 sections of starting on an i9 16" MBP. I opened another question with this and how to downgrade.
Yes I have the same issue, also after a while it locks up and has to be force quit.
Hey mates, same goes here.
Catalina 10.15.6 (19G73), Safari Version 14.0 (15610.1.20.4, 15610)
5 to 10 minutes of browsing and Safari goes energy insane.

Installed latest Safari Technology Preview (Release 111 (Safari 14.0, WebKit 15610.1.23.1.2)), seems fine.

Waiting for Apple to respond on this.

Same issue here, MacBook Air 2013 on Catalina 10.15.7 (the oldest computer on the compatibility list for BigSur,).

Updating to Safari 14 on Catalina is slowly converting my Macbook Air from portable to a desktop PC.

Iv conducted a search on Mac related forums, so far there is 2 feasible solution:

1: The solution proposed here by artemKatlenok "Install Safari Technology Preview ", is the most effective solution, the easier to implement. It the fav. recommended solution.

2: Upgrade to Big Sur. (Not for me at the moment)

  • I also own a  Imac 2017 Catalina (bought new 1 year ago at the official apple Store) came with Sierra , was a fantastic computer for a couple of days, it got auto updated to Catalina, that turned my Imac in the slowest (and disappointing) computer I ever owned. Solution posted here and other dev forums are ok on short term, any app or system update.. and the problems return

Description of: Power drainage on Macbook Air 11 mid 2013 resulting from upgraded Safari 14 running on Catalina 10.15.7
(on non technical language, hope it help)

  • Safari 14, in my case, works properly when i surf on low resolution websites and play low resolution videos (videos are played on foreground Tab, background tabs are muted). If I increase the resolution of websites, or the graphic workload to Safari 14 (extended displays, dual videos play ), all the computer gets unresponsive (trackpad first, then keyboard) and start warming.

As far as I play music and videos on external app, no problems at all .

My conclusion
1: Fans are just doing their work, dealing with excessive heat.
2: Energy drainage is result of overheated circuits and the excessive workload of the cooling system.

Im inclined to believe that new OSx application are not yet suitable and to be runned on 1: Older OSx (ej: Catalina) 2: Older Intel Graphic card 3: Intel i5 with 4G ram.
