Localized Subscription Price String

I'm very familiar with displaying localized price strings for my IAPs, but I'm trying to understand the best practices for subscriptions. It's great that NSFormatter and the product's locale can take care of a nicely-formatted string for the user for my non-consumables, but are there any tools to display the equivalent of "$24.99 / year" in other languages? Is it up to the developer to handle / localize the messaging for things like subscription terms and/or trial pricing? I imagine a lot of people will just send their strings off to a localization company, but I'd really love to match some Apple "best practice" guidelines, since the concept of an annual subscription probably varies by locale.

most users will understand the English "/3 months". Getting the currency converted to local currency is more important.
