iPhone disconnects when Xcode launches

I am experiencing an issue with Xcode and my iPhone.

When I connect my iPhone to my Macbook, all is okay. The device is detected and everything works correctly.

However, launching Xcode (just accessing the "Welcome to Xcode" project selection screen) causes the device to be instantly disconnected from my laptop and disappear from Finder.
When I go to Window -> Devices and Simulator, my device is not recognized anymore.
When I physically disconnect the reconnect it, it appears one second and disappears instantly.

Closing Xcode lets me reconnect the device normally.
Due to this issue, I am not able to use my physical device for development purpose.

Could you please let me know how to fix this ?

Laptop : Macbook Pro 2017 13'' - BigSur 11.2.3
Xcode : 12.4
Device : iPhone 7 - iOS 14.4.

Hello, kgeorget

Were you able to figure out how to solve the issue?

I want to comment the same issue happens to me, I cannot have my iPhone work for development. And the same circumstances, the device works correctly as long as Xcode is not running, it even works fine on a PC. It also disconnects in a similar fashion when I run a local backup through Finder. Backups do work fine on a PC, so it seems more of a Mac/Xcode issue.

I have a Macbook Pro 2019 15in running BigSur 11.5.2, Xcode 12.5.1 and an iPhone 8 running iOS 14.7.1.

I've tried everything from rebooting Xcode/Mac/iPhone, even resetting the iPhone, updating the OS, using Xcode Beta 13. Even some workarounds proposed elsewhere of navigating to the DeviceSupport folder in the Xcode app directory and copying the 14.5 folder and renaming it to 14.7.1 to no avail.

I am facing the same issue with Macbook M1 2020 Air. Any help would be appreciated

I have same issue... i use Macbook Pro M1 2020 with MacOS Monterey ver 12.5, Xcode 14.0 Beta 5, iPhone xR with iOS 15.6

and i try with DeviceSupport folder in the Xcode app directory and copying the 15.5 / 16.0 folder and renaming it to 15.6. and device not avail...
