Are you able to connect to a WiFi network manually with an SSID that contains null characters?

Version: Xcode 12.5, iOS 13+, Tested Version: iOS 14.4

I have attempted to make a connection to a hotspot network that contains null characters, when using the NEHotspotConfigurationManager API to manually connect to this network with null characters, it prompts that's it was unable to connect. Also, gives no error message, in fact it proceeds as if it was successful.

However it has been tested with normal network SSID's and works fine. Upon further testing, the network with null characters can be manually connected to through the Settings app, which means that it isn't the network itself, but the SSID name seems to be the issue. If you were to look at the SSID in the Settings app it will show like any other network even if there are null characters. In our case we had padding added to the network that equals 32 characters. I added a padding to try and match the SSID and the issue is still the same. I can also confirm that the extra null characters were added correctly totaling 32 characters. Also all setup for a hotspot is also configured correctly.

Is there an issue when trying to connect to a network with null characters with NEHotspotConfigurationManager?

Thanks!

I wanted to confirm that I understood the padded null characters part of this question correctly.

let networkSSID = "networkSSID                     "

Is the above similar to what you are referring to? If not could you provide me an example?
