Preview App Problems

I use preview to edit my PNG picture files. Preview is very buggy, and i need to know if it can be fixed.... What can i do? Basically - When i use the magic wand tool to grab just the PNG image... I close that screen and open another image and repeat - However on the next image it has a "memory" of the last cut and includes that into the magic wand selection. I have to quit preview each and every-time to avoid this problem... its the only work around i have found that removes this "scar and or memory" from the last cut. Is it something in my settings somewhere? Or is Big Sur just that far gone? Please see image attachment.
