If the side/"mute" button is assigned to rotation lock, the option disappears from the control centre. The idea being that you don't need it in the control centre if you have a physical button assigned.

Are you on an iPhone? iOS 9 introduces a new option called side switch which was already available on iPad’s. With this feature on iPhone can lock rotation or mute by toggling - It's in the general settings I think. This may be the cause of it having moved from it's familiar spot.

Is it not still available from the control centre?

Hi Max,

Thanks for your response but I dont see such a feature on iPhone (6), equally I dont see the option on the control screen that normally appears when swiping the screen from the bottom, all the usual features are there but alas no rotation lock.

Very strange, I'm sure it's just user error and it's just moved location but so far I havent been able to find it : (

Try the actual button (usually thought of as the mute button)

Thanks Max,

This worked, I have never used ot that wat before , thanks. I guess it makes sense but perhsp the default has chnaged under the new OS becuase I have never set it up that way.

Thanx for you help 🙂

The "real" rotation-lock with the side-button is gone. I like it so much. I think it is essential, not only on an iPad or iPhone 6plus.
