MacOS 12 (Monterey) is not supporting Xcode 12.5 and below

Hi,

We are currently using Xcode 12.5 version for development and Testing of mobile apps.

After recent upgrade to MacOS 12, I'm not able use any Xcode versions below 13 (Attached screenshot). As we have few project dependencies, we only use Xcode 12.5 and below and cannot use Xcode 13.

Could you please look into this and help.

Appreciate your support and response. Thanks!

Regards, Inderjeet

Good morning,

Don't despair, we hit this same issue end of last week.

Go on Youtube, there are plenty of instructional videos on how to run the tools.

as an example. Best of luck and suck it Apple, think of the developers trying to work with your tools and be a bit more appreciative of our struggles.

Cheers, Valentin Secades

Unfortunate, in the past new OS supported more ancient versions of Xcode (MacOS 11.6 supports Xcode 10 and does not require Xcode12)

However there was (at least) a warning in Apple News on sept 21 (and probably in Monterrey Release notes as well):

Xcode 13 required on macOS Monterey September 21, 2021

As you plan to update to macOS Monterey after the public release this fall, you’ll also need to update to Xcode 13 (which includes Xcode Cloud and the latest SDKs for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS). Xcode 13 is compatible with macOS Big Sur 11.3 or later.
