Cannot add printers

Anyone else having any issues adding printers? When I hit the "+" button to add a printer nothing happens.

Same problem here. Had to do a clean install and now can't add any.

I had/have the same issue - it's definitely a bug. A workaround, if you're interested, is to run the following in Terminal to enable CUPS web-interface:

cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Then open localhost:631/printers/ in a browser.

In the Adminstration tab, you can add printers. It detected and added mine no problem.

The final parts of the printer installation occured when I first tried to print something - which it did as normal - and now the printer is all present and correct in the SysPref pane too (although I still can't add further printers directly from there).

Same problem.

My HP Officejet Pro was showing, but not connecting. I tried to delete and re-add it back to see if that would help; but instead I found I could not add any printer.

I mostly used this one for scanning and copies.

Have a second printe ron my system that still works ... don't want to lose that one too

I'm confident that the workaround I described above will work for you if you want to get the first printer back.

I had trouble today trying to print a Pages Letter using my Canon iP4950. The printer was on another iMac with printer connected to USB hub. Sharing appeared to recognise the printer but nothing happened. The USB hub cable was long enough to reach the iMac with 10.11. Again nothing. Disconnected printer, deleted printers in Prefs, found a USB extention cable and direct connection worked when printer was added. There are USB hub issues I gather.

There are USB hub issues but, in my case at least, the problem was a stuck printer PrefPane and connecting to my printer over wifi.

Same problem. The "+" button in the Printer Preference Pane is unresponsive, though I can delete a printer.

Thanks for the tip Max. I tried it and it initially woked (my preinter/scanner came back). But again ... after scanning one page it reported an error

This is a known crasher, the AddPrinter.app program crashes each time you add a new printer (look at your Console when you click on +). I've filed a radar a few weeks ago and Apple marked it as a dupe , so they're aware of this and will issue a fix soon.

I have the same issue, I went to localhost:631/printers/, then to administration, clicked "Add Printer", but then this is what I get at that point:

Cannot add printers
