We manage our macs via JAMF/DEP and these machines have EFI passwords per our security standards. Lately I have been getting a lot of reports that the Mac OS Updates in Big Sur are causing the Macs to boot into Recovery for some reason. That requires that the EFI PW be entered but users do not have access to that PW. Most of our users are remote which means they have to ship the macs to us for support. Is there a way, once the mac is on the EFI PW lock screen to force the Mac to boot from the Hard Drive and cancel the queued update? Also why does the Recovery partition need to be updated in order to run Mac OS Updates?
