Reality Composer 3D character animation import

Hello everyone,

I created a 3D character animation in Blender and I would like to import it in Reality Composer.

However i export the animation from Blender, it wont show in Composer, just the static object. My usdz scene has character parrented on animated armature.

is there any way to import 3D character animation (made in 3D software) to Reality Composer?

thnx

Hi! Unfortunately, Blender does not support exporting skeletons to usdz, source: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/files/import_export/usd.html

Blender does not (yet) support exporting invisible objects, USD layers, variants, skeletal animation, etc.

You can also export a glTF file from Blender and convert it to USD with Reality Converter: this should preserve animations.

  • I'd like to know if this is how aninoji's models are made? How can I implement animoji-like models in blender, and export it for ARKit face tracking with 52 blendshapes.

@GraphicsAndGamesEngineer Excellent, this is exactly what I have been looking for ;-)

Are USD files playing animations always automatically and straight away?

Nice that by the glTF export from Blender the animations would be preserved…

Can I trigger these animations later programmatically after having imported them (that is, the USD file) into a SceneKit scene?

Thanks ;-)

For blender Lower, it is the best place for Cloud Render Farm https://www.kibrit.com.tr/rental-gpu-render-farm/

Hi there, has this solution worked? I am able to export my blend file as USD with blender 4.1 beta and it allows me to export skeletal animation but it only seems to export one of them. I tried exporting as gltf and converting it to a usd file in reality converter but same issue. Do USD files only hold one animation per skeletal mesh or is there a way to hold all of my animations? Thanks!
