Hello, I’m porting my UIKit/SceneKit app to SwiftUI/RealityKit and I’m wondering how to change the camera target programmatically. I created a simple scene in Reality Composer Pro with two spheres. My goal is straightforward: when the user taps a sphere, the camera should look at it as the main target.
Following Apple’s videos, I implemented the .gesture modifier and it is printing the tapped sphere correctly, but updating my targetEntity state doesn’t change anything, so the camera won't update its target. Is there a way to access the scene content at that level? Or what else should I do?
Here’s my current code implementation:
Thanks!

I have a scene that has been assembled in RCP but I'm losing the correct hierarchy and transforms when running the scene in the headset or the simulator.
This is in RCP:
This is at runtime with the debugger:
As you can see the "MAIN_WAGON" entity is gone and part of the hierarchy are now children of "TRAIN_ROOT" instead.
Another issue is that not only part of the hieararchy disappears, it also reverts back to default values of the transform instead of what is set in RCP:
This is in RCP:
This is in the simulator/headset:
I'm filing a feedback ticket too and will post the number here.
Anyone had a similar issue and found a fix or workaround ?

I've been using the MacOS XCode Reality Composer to export interactive .reality files that can be hosted on the web and linked to, triggering QuickLook to open the interactive AR experience.
That works really well.
I've just downloaded XCode 15 Beta which ships with the new Reality Composer Pro and I can't see a way to export to .reality files anymore. It seems that this is only for building apps that ship as native iOS etc apps, rather than that can be viewed in QuickLook.
Am I missing something, or is it no longer possible to export .reality files?
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I'm working on a visionOS application using RealityKit and am encountering a common coordinate system challenge when integrating 3D models created in Blender.
My goal is to display and dynamically update the Transform (position, rotation, scale) of models created in Blender within RealityKit.
The issue arises because Blender's default coordinate system is Z-up, and while exporting to USD/USDZ, I don't have a reliable "Y-up" export option that correctly reorients the model and its transform data for RealityKit's Y-up convention. This means I'm essentially exporting models with their "up" direction along the Z-axis.
When I load these Z-up exported models into RealityKit, they are often oriented incorrectly. To then programmatically update their Transform (e.g., move them, rotate them based on game logic, or apply physics), I need to ensure that the Transform values I set align with RealityKit's Y-up system, even though the original model data was authored in a Z-up context.
My questions are:
What is the recommended transformation process (e.g., using simd_quatf or simd_float4x4) to convert a Transform that was conceptually defined in a Z-up coordinate system to RealityKit's Y-up coordinate system? Specifically, when I have a Transform (or its translation, rotation, scale components) from a Z-up context, how should I apply this to a RealityKit Entity so it appears and behaves correctly in a Y-up world?
Are there any existing convenience APIs or helper functions within RealityKit, simd, or other Apple frameworks that simplify this Z-up to Y-up Transform conversion process? Or is a manual application of a transformation quaternion (e.g., simd_quatf(angle: -.pi / 2, axis: [1, 0, 0])) the standard approach?
Any guidance, code examples, or best practices from those who have faced similar challenges would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

I am an AR developer working on Apple Silicon Macs. Currently, Reality Composer Pro does not allow exporting .reality files, and Reality Composer (classic) is not available for Apple Silicon. This creates a gap in the workflow for ARKit/RealityKit developers who need interactive .reality files for use in Xcode projects.
Having the ability to export .reality files directly from Reality Composer Pro on Mac would greatly streamline development and enable a fully native workflow on modern Macs. Alternatively, bringing Reality Composer (classic) to Apple Silicon would also resolve this issue.
I have submitted this as a feature request via Feedback Assistant (FB17900386). I encourage others with similar needs to reply or submit feedback as well.
Thank you!

Reality Composer is no longer available in XCode 15 Release. Is this intended or will be available in later releases? Do I need to revert to Xcode15 Beta8 to get Reality Composer?
Hello,
I'm working on a visionOS project that uses Reality Composer Pro, and we are managing our project files with Git.
We've noticed that simply opening and closing the Reality Composer Pro application consistently generates changes in the following files, even when no explicit modifications have been made by the developer:
{ProjectName}/Packages/RealityKitContent/Package.realitycomposerpro/PluginData/*******/ShaderGraphEditorPluginID/ShaderGraphEditorPluginID
{ProjectName}/Packages/RealityKitContent/Package.realitycomposerpro/WorkspaceData/SceneMetadataList.json
Could you please clarify the purpose of these files? Why do they appear as modified when no direct changes are made from our end?
More importantly, is it safe to add these files to our .gitignore to prevent them from being tracked by Git? We are concerned that ignoring these files might lead to unexpected issues or inconsistencies when other team members pull the latest changes, especially if these files contain critical project metadata or state that needs to be synchronized.
Any insights or recommended best practices for managing Reality Composer Pro projects with Git would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

I sketched a idea for a project in Reality Composer on my iPad, thinking when I had a chance to sit down I would work it up in Xcode.
However, when I got back to my computer, I discovered I cannot open a file created in Reality Composer (or the exported Reality file) in Reality Composer Pro.
Am I missing something obvious here, because this seems like a huge oversight.
If anyone, can let me know how to open a file created in Reality Composer in Reality Composer Pro, I would greatly appreciate it. Partly, because there seems to be objects available in Reality Composer that are not in Reality Composer Pro.
Thanks
Stan

Hello! I’m familiar with the discussion on “Sending messages to the scene”, and I’ve successfully used that code.
However, I have several instances of the same model in my scene.
Is it possible to make only one specific model respond to a notification?
For example, can I pass something like RealityKit.NotificationTrigger.SourceEntity in userInfo or use another method to target just one instance?

I want to select a sub model under a large model in a mixed space, and when I select this sub model, I will add a stroke to it, similar to the effect of selecting a model in Reality Composer Pro ,How to create entity strokes similar to this effect
Hi, I am trying to create a simple effect to create feather edges on the image using Reality Composer Pro. Something like this:
As you can see it has softer edges on all sides that dissolves into transparency with the background.
this is what I have been able to achieve on my own.
I want to use the "feather" input node value (float) from 0.0 to 1.0 to increase or decrease the strength of the feather edges.

If I place the .usdz file in the project directory alongside other .swift files, ModelEntity loads it perfectly. However, if I try to load the same file from Reality Composer Pro under RealityKitContent.rkassets, I get the error: resourceNotFound("heart").
Could someone help me with this? Thank you so much

Dear Developers, I am having some problems with Reality Composer Pro on Mac. Specifically, I don't understand how to manage some timeline functions. I have an object that has a double animation, an opening animation and a closing animation. On a first tap the object should open through animation 1, while on the second tap the object should close through animation 2. Only the two animations conflict. In addition, animation 1 does not stop at the last frame but returns the object to the position of frame 0. Do you have any solutions? Thank you all
In Reality Composer, it is possible to create child components and manipulate them within the hierarchy of a ModelEntity. Is there a way to create child components in other 3D modeling programs, such as Blender?
Hi team I don't know from this error has popped up any suggestions please

After upgrading to Xcode 16 my app, which utilizes imported project files from my iPad's Reality Composer app, now has two issues that I have found so far. I am using an ARView as a UIViewRepresentable with SwiftUI. (Prior to upgading to Xcode 16 everything worked well.)
First, there are now several duplicate rcp_export.usdz resources in the "Copy Bundle Resources" build phase section. Even though each file is in a separate folder with a unique UUID, it was causing a compile error saying there are duplicate files. I was able to open the RC project folder and delete the older rcp_project versions which now allows the app to compile. I mention it as it may or may not be related to the second issue.
Second, Xcode isn't generating the project code for rcproject, so when I call the RCProject.loadSceneAsync function I am getting an error that says "Cannot find 'RCProject' in scope"
Just this error is coming again and again I just updated the Xcode today.
Thanks

I am using RealityKit's ObjectCaptureSession API to capture objects, presenting the process with ObjectCaptureView. During the object capture session, there is default background audio that plays automatically.
I noticed this same audio behavior in Apple's official Composer app, which seems to use the same API. I'd like to disable this audio in my app, but I have not been able to find any API or configuration option to do so.
However, the audio persists, and I cannot find a way to turn it off. Is there an official method or workaround to disable this default audio in the ObjectCaptureSession API?
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!
