App with same name

Hi There,
I am trying to push an app with name say "Demo" but there ia allready an App with name "Demo" live on itunes.
Itunes allowed me to register the App with the name "Demo".Should I go with the same name or in future my App will get reject?
If any one have faced the same problem kindly answer my query.

Thanks in Advance.

The change is very small that Apple will reject your App because of a name conflict, if you managed to register that name. Unless the other app is a well known app.

Usually you can't register a name that is a duplicate of another name. That means that either you or that other app (whoever selected last) should not have been able to select that name. Of course the names "Demo" and "Demo." and Demo-" and Demo1" are all different; perhaps also De mo" and "Demo ". I suspect if you look closely you will discover that one or the other of you has something that makes the names 'different'.

The other problem that you, or they, have is that one or the other of you may be violating the other's copyright (or trademark) rights to that name.

Rejection is one issue, confusion is another - try to improve the name "Super Demo" or "Demo+"

Devs can usually employ a duplicate app name in a different country _locale/country/region_ from an existing app name use, during submittal/review. Apple's meta data checks will not alert and app review won't automatically complain/react. An exception of course is blatant trademark/copyright poaching, etc.

If the submittal process doesn't auto push back, the only thing stopping you in that example is your intent, ethics etc., or later, a downstream complaint from whomever is also using that name elsewhere and their ability to get Apple's attention resulting in contacting you about said complaint.

How this plays out in the future is far too subjective to predict, but as always, a plan B is your friend. Speak up if you need hints on what types of plan B might prove useful.

And finally, if you're considering variations on 'demo', know that it is far better to apply the alphabet - 'Able Demo' will show up well before 'S Demo' or 'X Demo' etc., when users search, so don't go to all that trouble and then waste it with a shot to the foot 😉

Good luck.

😢My app is also a problem, the same app name is different from one point, which makes us very embarrassed, how to solve this problem!
