Lost TouchID on M1 iMac after installing Ventura

So I noticed after I installed the Ventura beta on my M1 iMac that my touch ID quit working on my keyboard. I went into the settings, and I deleted the existing fingerprint so that I can redo it however, once I deleted it, I don't see any way to add a new fingerprint back. The entire dialog box that discussed a fingerprint is gone. I've restarted my computer several times, and I have the most current data installed. I'm having to type in my password for everything, including App Store downloads and logging in. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something in the new settings.

@bsteffey. I just had this exact same behavior on my M1 Mac Studio (M1Max)

Just happened to me. I hade a Max Studio M1 running 13.0.1. Touch ID stopped working yesterday. I have rebooted, gone into safe mode, reinstalled Ventura, deleted fingerprint done everything I can find todo online. Now I have no way to add back fingerprints or even see any reference to touchid anywhere. Does anyone have an answer or suggestion?

has anyone found a solution for this?

No solution found. I just happened to me yesterday. Studio Max M1 running Ventura 13.4.

I found a solution that worked.... finally.... For the Apple Magic Keyboard...

  1. turn off the keyboard
  2. attach to keyboard physically to the Mac with a lightning cable
  3. turn the keyboard back on.

4, You should see Touch ID restored as an option in the System Settings
