There used to be a "Done" button in the upper-right corner of the iOS keyboard that would make the keyboard disappear/collapse when tapped on. I do not see this button on the iOS 16 keyboard as well as no other way to make the keyboard collapse other than pressing the Go/Return button in the bottom right corner, but this behaves as an execution command (e.g., such as logging in) when all I want is to close the keyboard without actually executing anything. The "Done" button is seen in iOS 15, but primarily in third-party apps.

So, that's a button they added. I do the same for the numeric keyboard on iPhone.
The problem may come from the way they added the done button. You should contact app developer.
