How To Shutdown M1 Mac From Keyboard

I have been trying to find a keyboard shortcut to shutdown my M1 Mac without using a mouse or trackpad. The long-established 'Ctrl+Esc' and 'Carriage Return' keyboard sequence, using only 3 key presses, has been removed by Apple, for some unfathomable reason. The best sequence which I have found so far to do that is:

1] Press ‘Fn+Control+F2’,

2] Press the 'Down' cursor key 1 time

3] Press 'Up' cursor key 3 times

4] Press Carriage Return 2 times.

But that is 9 key presses; far too many for efficient work. Varying the number of cursor key presses allows selection of Sleep and Restart options.

Can anyone find a more succinct shortcut? Better yet, can anyone on here persuade Apple to see good sense and restore a simple key sequence for the old Shutdown/Restart/Sleep keyboard commands?

Thanks.

this isn't really a developer question, you would have more luck asking this on the support forums.

You could get an external keyboard with a media eject key, then you can use the shortcuts listed here https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236. Or, hold down the Touch ID/power button until the machine shuts down.

Or, just close the lid and let the Mac sleep. Unlike Intel Macs, M1 Macs keep their charge for quite a while in sleep.
