Is enabling nested virtualization on roadmap for MBP M2Pro/Max? Will this ever be a software setting on M2 that we could enable by toggling a button?

Is … on roadmap for MBP M2Pro/Max?

We can’t discuss Apple’s future plans. If you want to put something on the roadmap, I encourage you file an enhancement request describing your requirements. Please post your bug number, just for the record.

Having said that, it sounds like you’re talking about a user-level feature and this site, Apple Developer Forums, is focused on code-level stuff. So, the Virtualization tag refers to our Virtualization framework, which is a high-level API that let’s third-party developers create neat-o virtualisation solutions.

@eskimo Thank you very much for taking the time to post :)

I think the query is related to nested virtualisation which appears to have hardware issues on the M series CPUs currently. This put limits on developers who wish to develop for linux on mac i.e. cannot use lxd/ multipass to develop with snaps with snapcraft on ubuntu. Related issues are here

Performance with all hypervisors appears very poor on M series other than Parallels which is a shame.

So knowing when developers who need nested virtualisation will have provision from the hardware would be great.

The enhancement request appears to be close, do you know the most impactful place to request that?

Thank you for your time
